     Propaganda has been around for ages and has been used in many different ways to do everything from influence a war to change the public eye in fear of foreign countries, or in most cases take pride and support the nation in one way or another, War bonds, Antisemitism, Pro-war views, Genocide, You name it there is propaganda for it. 

    Most notably some of the most known uses of propaganda was in Nazi Germany, The Soviet Union, The invasion of Iraq, and the Castro era of Cuba. Propaganda consists of using information whether true or false to influence the public, It's almost like political advertising but on steroids, It usually involves a message conveyed using art of a family or the average citizen, and tries to fit into the citizens shoes, In doing this it gains a sort of loose "trust" of the citizen, This is usually the technique used in war bond propaganda, Which involves the citizen paying a sum that will rise over time, The sum of money will be used to fund the war, A recent example of a war bond would be the Ukraine war bonds, Which inevitably have failed, Resulting in many people forever losing such money.

    Another notable form of Propaganda was the "weapons of mass destruction" in Iraq, this happened shortly after the terrorist attack on 9/11 and was believed to be a form of racially/ethnically motivated war on a mass scale, there were no weapons of mass destruction, yet many americans died for a causeless death. The best way to prevent this is through Journalism and protests, which are protected under the first amendment, unfortunately even with the protests across the globe though, the US still decided to Invade. 

    In short, Propaganda has many uses, most of which are negative, but some positive uses do exist, they just aren't as successful. Propaganda still exists today and in the age of social media it is important to watch out for this no matter the platform. Tik tok has faced recent controversy for their supposed connection with the chinese government, which has been "hidden" on the Tik Tok platform, but tik tok has also been known for leaking many crucial US documents, which could be another reason for the shutdown, this is a good example of how propaganda still affects us today.

      In this EOTO, we discussed different communicative inventions used today in society, most common being the radio, The internet, and vinyl.     1. Social media       I tend to get most of my basic understanding of news through social media, the headliners are usually all I read however because I don't have a lot of trust for social media news sources unless its an actual news channel like NBC or Fox. It usually helps me determine the severity of the news as well, If I only see 1 or 2 sources, it may not be worth diving into the research of it, In this era of constant news and very fast spread of misinformation, Unless it's already been heavily researched and proven as a true and accurate news headline, I don't feel its worth my time.     2.       Technology has many implications and has changed the way we work and relax on a day-to-day basis, But with every good thing comes bad things as well, This is evident with suicide rates in today's youth, It's at an all-time high and has risen rapidly ever since the introduction of social media and cellphones, But cellphones also allow us to communicate instantly with our loved ones, And social media allows millions of people to communicate instantly across the world.     The evolution of technology in the past 100 years has allowed society to progress at an insane rate, I like to believe that after the radio was invented and it allowed people to listen in daily for news and weather that it just sparked something in everyone, suddenly humanities primal instincts weren't about survival and nourishment, it was about bettering society as a whole, for the present and future.
